A place in time ... WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY

It was with a sense of great humility and honour that I got to view life through the eyes of my main character in THE SILVER MIST - 'Eve' - and the discoveries I made whilst researching the book only served to heighten my already growing respect for people with Down Syndrome.  I had also the great fortune to grow up with a cousin who himself possessed the same extra copy of genetic material on the 21st. chromosome unique to Down Syndrome persons, and not least the major influence for me writing the novel in the first place.

Rightly or wrongly, we have come to not really notice these persons sitting on the fringes of our world and minds - yet there they are, living lives uniquely unfamiliar to our own, yet significant in their own right.

It is with the same humility and honour that I ask you to take heed of the achievements of WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY - 21st. March (EVERY YEAR), and to stop by the DOWN SYNDROME INTERNATIONAL website, to begin your own personal journey into the lives of these remarkable people, and witness the dedication of those who walk alongside them.

You won't regret it.

Many thanks ...

Martin :)
